In a sea of fantastic wine-growing hills, between Langhe & Monferrato, in the heart of the UNESCO heritage area, is located the Bussi Piero's Winery.
12 hectares of vineyards - Winemakers from 4 generations
Our winery and our vineyards are located in Calosso, in the locality of Castagna, the last bastion of the Monferrato Astigiano overlooking the Langhe, a few hundred meters away as the crow flies. Castagna is a toponym already mentioned in the land registers of 1758 with already then 40 hectares of single-body vineyard, where our vineyards currently stand
Immediately after the end of the First World War, grandfather Agostino, born in 1900, abandoned his father Nicola's custom of selling all the grapes to shopkeepers, starting to vinify a small part of Barbera grapes. The company at that time consisted of about 1.5 hectares of vineyards and when Germano Bussi took over in the 1960s, the number rose to four. It was in '68 that the turning point took place, with Germano who began to vinify Muscat grapes, a very demanding and tiring process considering the equipment of that time. The must obtained following the hand pressing was, after clarification, filtered with the famous “Dutch bags”, a very slow and laborious process. The results were not long in coming and the desire to buy other vineyard plots grew, focusing mainly on the Moscato & Barbera varieties. Piero Bussi, third generation, has gradually entered the farm, currently run together with his son Federico, owner from the 2022, who today can count on 12 hectares of vineyards, focusing on the quality of the product, first in the vineyard and then in the cellar. Identifying wines, mirror of our territory, respecting nature, which currently reach, proudly, a dozen countries from 4 different continents. Driven by the passion for history and the desire to discover his origins, in 2000 Piero Bussi, after 10 years of research, published the historical book "Gente di Calosso".

Driven by his passion for history and the desire to discover his origins, in 2000 Piero Bussi published the historical book "Gente di Calosso".

I had always been fascinated by the stories of the old people of my village, especially those handed down by my grandfather and my grandmother. The years have passed and the passion has grown to make me want to deepen the roots of my roots. "
